Ok. So you can't participate this year ... Or can you?
This page is put together so that YOU (Parent, Friend, Etc) can find out what is going on. Our desire is that this would not only help you to know what has happened during the day, but to let you know how to pray, or if you have the resources/time/availibility/funds still be a part of this year's Partnership.

It has been said that some things are toughest at the beginning. I'm not sure if Serve Susanville counts as one of those things or not. Slowly but surely, a good number of last minute items came together ... last minute. This year's team is made up of a good number of "Newbies" or "First Years". We do have several who have come back for a second year. We also have 6 veterans this year who have participated in over 3 years of Serve Susanville. It is difficult to believe that this program has been around for so long.
We took time for the group briefing tonight for the main overview. Tonight we also had several team building exercises and opportunities to look in the Bible as well as time for large and small group discussion. Four Members joined us from the Sacramento Area. Our team this year also includes people from Community Evangelical Free Church of Susanville, The SeventhDay Adventest Church in Susanville and Susanville Church of the Nazarene.

Prayer Requests
Praise God for binging the Sacramento members to Susanville safely.
Please pray that the team would bond closely together.
Please Pray that God would supply all the team's needs.
Please pray that the right work projects would solidify. (We have too many projects and not enough team members.)
Please pray that God would work in the hearts and minds of those the team will come in contact with.
Please Pray that God would stir up additional teeam members from throughout Lassen County.
Please pray for team member's health.

This Morning, Jimmy Ururburu came by and made us a pancake breakfast. While he did that, several of the core leaders spent time fleshing out the final plans for today. After Breakfast and some one on one time with God, the group broke up again to connect in Small Groups. This morning , we were joined by a member of Honey Lake Valley Assembly.
Once the small group discussions were completed, The Team headed out to MAMA's Crisis Pregnancy Center. We met up with the founder "Lea". She shared with the group, not only what the Center does, (Ministers to mothers and potential mothers, regardless of circumstances, and meets needs from pre birth to up to one year after birth.)but also shared about the Center's needs, (anything from sorting and folding donations, to working the store, to providing donations, to counseling and much more.) The team then spent time doing everything from folding, sorting, packing, moving, weeding and much more. The team cleared out over 20 feet of weeds and more than 7 carlengths (Or carloads) of other material.
The team spent some time with a large number of local residents and they visited many neighborhoods. After lunch, the team woked on prepping for the evening's children's program, then part of the team spent additional time connecting with local residents. In the midst of this one of the team members, Tatum U, had a car door accidentily slam on her hand. Praise God the damage was minimal.
The Laine and Lowe Families helped to provide showers for the team. This is a great praise as the previous arrangements were blocked.
Jennifer and Jimmu Uruburu came by and prepped up a spaghetti dinner for the team.
This evening's Children's program was a great blessing, 22 children attended. This year older kids joined the group as well. The team quickly adapted and ened up providing two different programs for both groups. With several games, some music, a puppet show and a generious food gift for the attendees, the program was well received. Michelle F Shared the lesson with the kids this evening.
In an effort for the group to get to know each other better, each meal, an individual shares their salvation testimony. Today, Joe, Dan S, and Joey shared their stories.
This evening, Jim L from Susanville Christian Fellowship came and shared with the group from Ephesians 4 and John 17. Nancy C, led the group in Worship. We closed out the night with Prayer Partners and introspective journaling time.
Today was a pretty great day, but we did have some minor accidents. Several kids ended up with skinned knees and hands during a couple of the games. Joe C brused up his hand playing dodgeball with some of the kids, and several other team members ended up with some scratches and some minor bruses. The Cardenas family had to tend to Jackson F due to some alergic reactions and burst blood vessels.(Thanks for your medical expertese!) Though Nancy C got perhaps a little too excited about administering medication.

This morning we got up a half an hour earlier. Surprisingly enough, the majority of the team got up "bright eyed and bushy tailed." (I've never really understood that illustration when it came to people, but whatever.) It was interesting to note that due to the struggling economy, several groups either no longer had somone to deal with potential projects, or they were swamped to finalize one. In the midst of that, we had our hands full. after another wonderful Ururburu Breakfast, there was a time of additional training, briefing and debriefing from yesterday. Rob D showed a video titled 1 Thousand questions. It was pretty thought provoking.
Today were we were blessed by the involvement from a couple of people from Gospel Tabernancle. It's very cool to see Churches from throughout Susanville connect with the Serve Susanville Project.
Today's Morning Projects were a combination with connecting with additional residential areas and doing some work with Crossroads Ministries. (A Blend of setting up, Serving, and cleaning.)
Once time of a brief and simple lunch was completed (Thanks Jennifer U and Michelle F!) The team attempted to settle down for a little while to rest. Surprisingly enough, several people actually took a nap!
Not much later, the team reassembled to add some finishing touches to the evening's children's program. (Though several people put hours of additional work. I blieve some even worked through their 'rest' time. Thank you Joe V and Abi L. Your efforts were noted and quite appreciated! Six plus drafts and a great number of hours and changes later your hard word DOES make a difference!)
There seemed to be a flury of activity, including a couple of girls designing a new clothing line. It's kind of amazing to see How God develops people, opportunities and more, when we make time to interact and step out in faith.
After squeezing in an Ururburu dinner (Thanks again Jen!) The team moved on to the children's program, though a couple of kids did not return, we had a total of 24 children show up and participate. With a program filled with additional games, crafts, music and a solid second track of activity, though the team hit some rough spots, the response was very positive.
When the program ended, the team med for another debrief and some activities. After working through several technical difficulties, Jackson F. led in a short worship set followed by Michelle F. leading an interactive encounter with God. (It's a little wordy to explain. You really needed to have participated in person to get the full effect, but there are several pictures below that might help clarify. The night closed off with Communion followed by Prayer Partners and Personal reflections.

Today was Day 6 of this year's Serve Susanville. It was a VERY busy, but most excellent day. The team spent one one one time with God, a teamwide devotional and briefing after a breakfast of Abi Laine Omlettes. With Assistance from Harts Cafe, KFC, Susanville RV Park, Jack in the Box, we were able to pick up supplies to minister to over 115 people at Riverside park for this year's Family Day at the park. Including carnival games, BBQed hot dogs, face painting, a skit with a gospel presentation and a GForce Children's presentation, the day was quite full. Once clean up was complete, it was tough to believe that our time together was over.
Today's Highlights/Praises
-The gracious assistance from several of the local businesses in the midst of a hurting economy.
-The supply of a power generator for the day by the Laine family (Susanville Church of the Nazarene)
- The participation of at least 115 individuals (At one time)
-A most excellent close to this year's Serve Susanville
-The low cost provision of prizes.
-The low cost provision of food.
-The connection of a large cross section of families throughout Susanville. (Every local economic and ethnic background was represented.)
